My teaching style is based off my own passion for psychology, as someone who hopes to work in the field! I primarily tutor A level candidates and people preparing to apply to university for psychology-related degrees. I believe it's important for students to develop enthusiasm for what they learn, and I make sure to devote sufficient lesson time to discussion of learnt topics. At the same time, memory consolidation is especially important for exam learning (practicing recalling information is more important that just learning it) and as such I expect my students to work between my sessions, and to start each lesson with a recap of last lesson's content. Not everyone can be taught the same however, and my methodology is flexible to suit individuals who are enthusiastic about learning!
I graduated from Cambridge in June 2018 with a 2.i in Psychological and Behavioural Science. I have 4 years experience in both academic tutoring and Oxbridge application consultation with both British and overseas students, all the way from GCSE tuition to Oxford University students. I currently work for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, in the Nuffield Department for Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford in research on Parkinson's disease and REM sleep behaviour disorder.
BA (Hons) Psychological & Behavioural Sciences - University of Cambridge
Psychology tuition available at university-level, A-level/IB and GCSE-level.
Neuroscience tuition available at university-level, A-level/IB and GCSE level.
For university-level tuition, my tuition involves support work in ensuring students have any gaps of knowledge filled in and that they are directed in their reading outside of the course readings, helping them get 1st class grades.
For A-level/IB students, my tuition primarily involves teaching students further detail, additional to the students' content taught at school, giving them a greater chance at a top grade in exams. However, I am also able to teach A-level/IB Psychology from scratch.
Sam has been incredibly helpful in bringing me up to speed on materials I had missed while on a year away from university. He is widely knowledgable in the field of psychology, and conveys his expertise well. Sam's assistance has made a huge difference in preparing me to return to university and to sit my exams.
Samuel has been a great tutor, successfully helping our student gain a place to study Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at Cambridge. We would strongly recommend him as a tutor!
