I grew up in southern Spain and learnt Spanish from a young age, once moved back to England I passed my GCSE 4 years early and later took Spanish as an A-level. Due to the content of the course I only completed up to AS-Level as it was more Spanish history and culture than the language itself. I believe my teaching children up-to GCSE level would be most successful as I am a native speaker so I not only understand what the GCSE criteria requires but also the 'real' Spanish that is spoken in the country. As well as this, depending on the age of the student, there is a greater chance they will pick up at least the basic accent. I believe that although hard work is important, with the help of simple exercises and fluid conversation the student's knowledge will grow without them even realizing! Although simple Spanish for younger children is my initial point of practice, more intermediate and older students will happily be considered!
I am new to teaching and am therefore lacking in official experience but through helping family members and friends get a grasp of the language I have been inspired to continue to share my knowledge with the people that want it!
From growing up in rural Spain I was able to learn Spanish straight from the local people. By going to a small public school were only a handful of other English speakers were present, my acquisition of the Spanish language was heightened.
