My 'SSAT Lead Practitioner' and recently acquired 'Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert 2018-2019' accreditation has helped me identify and support the opportunities that are available to both learner and teacher. I am involved with several digital projects such as 'Code Club', 'Create Norwich', 'Microsoft Schools Program,' and 'Project Refurb' that are all based upon making a real difference to the community.
As a 'chalk-face' teacher, I am delighted that our strategy to increase participation in digital qualifications at KS4 has risen at Open Academy. I am delighted that almost a third of girls continue to study a digital qualification at KS4, with many considering further study at KS5.
My continued involvement as a CAS Master teacher and Norfolk CAS Hub leader has allowed me to work together with many external agencies and help promote Computing in the community by offering continued CPD and curriculum advice. Our work has led to the annual 'CAS Scratch Off' hosted at the UEA to become one of the UK's biggest primary and secondary coding competitions. I am also a regular speaker at the Regional IT Conferences for Education Professionals in Norwich. See less
I came into teaching after 15 years’ experience working as a software engineer and manager in the telecommunication sector. My projects over the last few years have taken me to deliver seminars in Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Beijing and recently the prestigious Education Show and BETT in the UK. I am currently working on several projects in STEM/STEAM, CPD training and virtual world teaching and learning. I have particular interest in the transition between KS2 and KS3 and work with primary schools in the Norfolk area. I am a CAS 'Master Teacher' and also run the CAS regional Hub in Norwich based at the University of East Anglia. I promote SSAT 'Claim Your College' and am a 'Lead Practitioner' with the organisation.
My rates vary based on the level of the student, the distance I need to travel. Cancellation of a lesson if given 24 hours will not incur a cost.

City Academy Norwich
Teacher / Leader of Learning / Lead Practitioner
January 2011 - April 2015 (4 years 4 months)
Norwich, United Kingdom
My passion for computing, engineering and the arts helped me overhaul the
ICT curriculum at City Academy Norwich and replace it with a computing and
media rich driven alternative, with a strong emphasis placed on the learner
being a designer and creator. The success of the Computing curriculum
resulted in learners application’s treble to study a digital qualification at
KS4. I worked on several projects in linking Computer Science to STEM/
STEAM, CPD training and virtual world teaching and learning. As a CAS
Master teacher I provided training for hundreds of primary school teachers
implementing the new Computing National Curriculum. I also worked in
collaboration with the National Foundation for Educational Research and
Norfolk County Council on several projects which helped solidify my belief that
providing independent evidence of improving education and learning should be
at the heart of all change.
Alderman Peel High School
Teacher / ICT Lead / Network Manager / Staff Governor
September 2006 - December 2010 (4 years 4 months)
Wells-next-the-sea, Norfolk, United Kingdom
I experienced education first hand as a new teacher at this school. I wore
many hats as I juggled "Staff Governor, DofE Leader, Staff PTA lead, EcoSchools coordinator, student teacher, events coordinator 'Crazy Disco and
Sleepovers for charity' and eventually head of key stage. The Guardian
newspaper wrote an article on my efforts to integrate social media into
education. I was instrumental in breaking the trend of a four year rout of 30%
ICT A*-C results and turned it around to a 90+% A*C
