I like to get to know my students and find out where they are and are not confident in terms of the material and practical work. From there we can work on going a little bit outside of their comfort level a bit at a time in order for them to get the best understanding of the material through hands-on activities and fun methods to understand the information. No two lessons will be exactly the same for two students because each lesson will be tailored to suit that students learning needs.
I think it is really important for students to fully understand the material and to not just be able to copy and paste it in an exam.
Four years experience in tutoring students either through drop-in programming clubs or in a classroom based environment. I have a degree in Computer Science from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and I have also had a lot of work experience in the industry which allows for me to relate the material being taught to practices used in the real-world.
