It can be tricky to introduce mindfulness to kids/young adults, especially when some get more agitated sitting still. Through my own experience of regular meditation and yoga, I like to approach all my musical teaching with a mindful approach. So many find that learning an instrument or even learning how to read music and understand harmonies can add more stress on top of all schoolwork. I hope to provide a way for kids to relax and ease anxiety whilst also creating beautiful music.
With good knowledge of the ABRSM Grade system in the UK, as well as my own experience of Music GCSE and A-level, I'd be happy to teach violin or music to anyone wanting to pursue exams, or to just have fun and learn something new. I can then devise a teaching plan depending on what you want to achieve. Please feel free to ask any questions and I look forward to meeting you!

As the fourth generation of a musical family, I was born in London and began playing the violin when I was three. I attended London's Royal Academy of Music (Junior Department) and went on to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School, Junior Guildhall and Vienna Konservatorium. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music and Violin Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston in 2019. I'm currently pursuing my Master’s degree at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In 2019, I participated as a Fellow at the prestigious La Jolla Music Society Summer Festival (USA) and travelled to Vietnam and Japan with Midori Goto’s International Community Engagement Program to teach violin and music at schools, hospitals, nursing homes and orphanages. I have numerous experience worldwide in teaching all levels, ages, as well as those who have physical/learning disabilities.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy for lessons, and rates may depend on how far I may need to travel to come to you!
The fourth generation of a musical family, Tatjana was born in London and began playing the violin when she was three. She was admitted to London's Royal Academy of Music (Junior Department) and, at age seven, she recorded Massenet’s "Meditation" for an installation art exhibition by Turner Prize-winner, Gillian Wearing. Aged 10, Tatjana enjoyed her first solo opportunity with orchestra at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, Singapore, where she played Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto.
Following studies with Natasha Boyarsky (Yehudi Menuhin School), Boris Kucharsky (Junior Guildhall) and Boris Kushnir (Vienna), Tatjana was awarded a President's Distinction Award scholarship at New England Conservatory, Boston with Miriam Fried and graduated in 2019. Now back in London, she is pursuing her Master’s degree with David Takeno at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Tatjana’s extensive concerto repertoire is complemented with frequent travel to International Music Festivals, including The Verbier Festival Academy (Switzerland), IMS Prussia Cove (UK), Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival (USA) and Ravinia Steans Music Institute (USA), She has enjoyed chamber music and classes with numerous Masters - most recently with Menahem Pressler, Kim Kashkashian, Ana Chumachenco, Pamela Frank and Midori Goto.
A multiple prize-winner from international competitions, including Andrea Postacchini (Italy), Tunbridge Wells (UK), Henri Marteau (Germany), Tatjana was semi-finalist at the 2018 Singapore International Violin Competition and winner of the Manfred Grommek Prize at Kronberg Academy (Germany).
In 2019, Tatjana participated as a Fellow at the prestigious La Jolla Music Society Summer Festival (USA) and travelled to Vietnam and Japan with Midori Goto’s International Community Engagement Program. Other recent highlights include concerto performances with The City Chamber Ensemble (UK) and the Odessa National Opera Theatre Orchestra (Ukraine), participation in successive Mellon Chamber Music Festivals in Davis (USA) and recital performances in the USA and London. Thanks to the generous support of a London benefactor and by kind arrangement with Florian Leonhard Fine Violins, Tatjana plays a G.B. Guadagnini violin (“ex-Kavakos”) made in Turin, c.1785.
A passionate teacher, Tatjana has given numerous private lessons to a range of ages and levels; she has also conducted masterclasses at the Midwest Young Artists programme (ages 13-18 Chicago, USA) and the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School (Boston, USA) as well as educating younger children at the North Davis Elementary School (California, USA).
I highly recommend Tanja for her professionalism and incredible enthusiasm in teaching violin. Not only Tanja demonstrates lots of patience with my 9 year old daughter but also when teaching her Mum which is another challenge !
I am grateful to Tanja for taking us both to the next level in violin .
Tanja is a very sensitive and deliberate teacher. As an excellent player, she is great at addressing all problems, technical and/or musical. Would highly recommend.
I have been colleagues with Tanja for over three years, and would recommend her without hesitation as a violin tutor to anyone. She has very reputable qualifications and excels both in teaching and performing. She is encouraging, kind, and a joy to work with!
