My name is Tabitha Bolter, and I am an 18 year old student from London. I have been a student at Junior Trinity for many years and currently study with Sue Dent. I have been accepted to many Conservatoires (Guildhall & RNCM...), where I plan to study full time in the next academic year.
I would feel comfortable giving lessons to students up to a grade 7 standard.
I would say that I am a very thorough teacher. After having my technique changed quite drastically recently, I now appreciate how important the fundamental principles are to good horn playing. I would try to incorporate as much of this into my teaching.
Despite this, music must also be enjoyed. So whilst the pieces from the ABRSM or Trinity syllabuses should be learnt, I believe that other fun pieces should be learnt along side these in order to improve general music quality and level of playing.
Scales, arpeggios and lip flexibilities would also be a fundamental part of my lessons. Particularly the warm up.
I have had one pupil so far. He achieved a merit in his recent grade 5 exam. This should have been higher, but he was injured in a rugby match a couple of days before the lesson.
I have also had experience with teaching music theory to pupils, which I can do efficiently, effectively and with some fun!
If you would like to see my Music CV, just let me know. This website would not let me upload a PDF version of it.
