About the lesson
I offer 1-to-1 Zoom calls & class based tutorials that are easy to understand and offer step by step guidance tailored to beginners.
Bitcoin and crypto is a technical subject that has a lot of confusing jargon; however I will break everything down into plain English and at your own pace. I focus mainly on teaching the fundamentals of Bitcoin / crypto and how best to invest in the space. I also explain the things to avoid doing, outlining my own mistakes that ultimately cost me time and money when initially investing into Bitcoin/ Crypto.
I also have made my own course materials that you can refer to after our sessions which contain handy links to video's that help explain things even further.

Had a great and very informative session with Darren. He had all the answers we were looking for and more. Can’t recommended getting a session with him enough. Super freindly and puts you at ease.
I have had a couple of lessons with Darren and feel he is exactly the right sort of person to teach me about buying crypto. I am so untechnical and also a bit nervous about crypto in general, could be down to my age (50s) but Darren is very patient and understanding that things don't always come quickly to us all. Really enjoying the lessons.
Darren is an intelligent and supportive teacher. The way he is able to match your level of experience is different from others I’ve had.
Sometimes teachers assume I know too much and I end up very confused, other times the teacher will be going over things I already know and I’m just bored. Darren is quickly able to adjust teaching to the exact level you are on so his lessons are understandable and interesting.
His lesson preparation follows the things I express interest in and I always walk away with more knowledge and more capabilities in trading.
I’m very pleased with him as a tutor.
Since being introduced to Crypto Currency I have wanted to learn more but I struggled to find useful guides online, however I can’t recommend Darren enough as he has really helped me expand my knowledge. Darren is friendly and informative and also tailors my lessons to suit specific areas I am interested in which is very helpful!!

When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?
I discovered crypto in early 2019 and have been learning about the space ever since. It wasn't until 2021 that I felt I had acquired enough knowledge on the subject to be able to offer tutoring.

Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).
I Teach all things crypto but mainly how to get started investing in it. I like to tailor the format of my lessons to the individual and allow them the freedom to ask the questions and start the lessons from any starting point they want.

Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
My old social sciences teacher at college, Mr Dunn was inspirational to me as he used to be a plumber and changed career to become a teacher. He was also very approachable and always made the subject interesting and engaging which is what I try to do in my lessons.

What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
I think you need to be able to break something down into it's simplest form in order to clearly explain it. I also think you need to be enthusiastic about the subject in order to engage pupils.

Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
I had one pupil who was in his late 60's who wanted to know more about bitcoin and crypto. After his first lesson he said he didn't trust crypto so I took an additional 10 mins to further explain all the risks / propaganda surrounding crypto & eventually put his mind at ease. He now has regular lessons with me and has invested some money into Bitcoin.

What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?
I find the main challenge is making sure people know that I don't offer any financial advice. I can explain things to do and tell you what works for me but Im afraid I can't offer any financial advice

Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?
My main passion is teaching people how to become financially independent

What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P) ?
I feel I am approachable and do my upmost to work around my pupils and let them decide on the format of the lessons. I also feel I am dedicated on explaining things until the pupil fully understands it & pride myself on offering a good teaching experience
