I am a current Psychology with Sociology graduate offering lessons in Leicester :)

Methodology

I can give lessons to A-Level, GCSE and primary school students. I would teach in a way that would make you learn as well as have fun. If you prefer practical lessons and role-play, I would tailor teaching to your needs to help you learn the best way you can.

Background

I have a degree in Psychology with Sociology (2:1) and have 2 years experience working 1:1 with a child with special needs. I also have experience working as a teaching assistant helping students to achieve their potential and future goals!

An Upper Second Class Honours Psychology with Sociology (BSc) graduate, who is a diligent, dedicated and self-motivated individual. An ability to communicate with people of all different ages and possess the necessary qualities to solve any challenge I put my mind to.

Employment History

ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) Tutor (Oct 2017 - Current)
 As an ABA tutor I work with a 4 year old child on the autistic spectrum delivering 1:1 teaching and implementing ABA strategies to help his individual needs
 Being creative and initiative as I have to think of ways to make teaching engaging and fun
 Close attention to detail and trained in his safeguarding as he displays challenging behaviour
 Effective communication and teamwork skills as I have to collaborate as part of a larger team by updating other colleagues on his progress and attending his team meetings
 Analysing progress and being organised as I have to record his data and complete paperwork

Outreach Ambassador – Nottingham Trent University (Sep 2018 - July 2019)
 Delivered outreach programmes about university to primary and secondary school students who were from disadvantaged areas
 Ensuring that students received maximum attention and advice about further and higher education
 Collaborate with other ambassadors on how to effectively deliver activities in a way that would engage young people
 Used my own initiative when leading children alone, as well as being a source of motivation and support
 Additionally, worked open days for the university where I gave potential students helpful course information, guided campus tours and advice about student life

Student Telephone Adviser – Nottingham Trent University (Aug 2018- Dec 2018)
 Delivered exceptional customer service for students in accommodation services during clearing; from finding available accommodation, to managing deposits and dealing with complaints.
 Used initiative and research skills when liaising with students needs to find them a suitable accommodation
 Additionally, worked on the phones to helpfully answer potential student’s queries about university, course information and accommodation.

Retail Assistant - New look (Nov 2018- Jan 2019)
 Providing excellent customer service by assisting customers with their queries and needs during the busy Christmas period
 Willingness to adapt to the changing demands of a fast paced retail environment
 Developed time-management skills as I had to liaise between serving customers and ensuring there was enough stock out on the shop floor
 Accurately checked price of stock and ensured they were labelled correctly

Primary School Teaching Assistant (Jan 2017 – May 2018)
 Completed two ten week paid placements in primary schools
 Enhanced communication skills and patience were required to help teach students, and at times 1:1 teaching was required according to the student’s needs
 Helpfully assisting teachers with activities in the classroom, planning lessons and marking
 Analysing progress of students to report back to teachers, along with suggestions on how to improve on student’s learning

Paid Charity Fundraiser – Home Fundraising (Feb 2017 – May 2017)
 Gained sales experience by going door-to-door and pitching persuasive presentations about charities to achieve sign ups
 Required confidence and determination as it was a challenging role
 Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure we were hitting targets


Achievements and Interests
 Fundraiser for charities (2015- 2018) - Organised and managed different events to raise money for several charities. Such as food stalls, fun days and sponsored runs. Developed communication, money handling and market research skills.
 In my spare time I like to go rock climbing and have also climbed several mountains. I also enjoy going to the gym, badminton, ice skating and socialising with friends.
 I have a passion for travelling and immersing myself in different cultures
