- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Oboe, Cor Anglais, Recorder, Chamber Music and Music Theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a First Class BMus (hons) degree and a Master of Performance with Distinction.
I also have ABRSM grade 8 oboe, grade 5 flute and grade 5 theory.
- How much do you charge?
My rates are £30 an hour and £15 half an hour. I teach oboe, cor anglais and chamber for up to one hour and recorder and music theory for half an hour. I am happy to provide a free consultation lesson to see how we get on.
- Where do you teach?
I am happy to travel to your home to teach within zones 1-2 and the area surrounding Southfields. Any further can be negotiated.
- When are you available?
Lesson times can be flexible to suit your needs.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach from the age of 6 with no upper age limit. I teach from beginner to advanced on oboe, cor anglais and chamber music and up to grade 5/intermediate on recorder and music theory.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I like to work to the ABRSM syllabus however if you feel there is another examination board you would prefer to study I would be happy to oblige.
- What kind of experience do you have?
Regarding teaching I have taught privately for a number of years and undertook work experience with a peripatetic music teacher from my local county music service. I have also completed a teaching course at the Birmingham Conservatoire and took part in an LSO Discovery Education Project.
I am also an active freelance musician performing with the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields and currently on trial with the Northern Sinfonia and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
No as my teaching experiences have been private.
- Where and with whom did you train?
As an undergraduate I studied with Richard Weigall and George Caird at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
My post graduate studies took place at the Royal College of Music with Christopher Cowie, Gareth Hulse, David Theodore, Christine Pendrill and Jane Marshall.
