Maths, computing and the sciences underpin so much of our modern world - from online shopping to running the railways. I passionately believe that having a good grounding in these topics creates wider opportunities for people of all ages.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
My principal subjects are Mathematics, Physics and Computing at GCSE and A-level. I also teach GCSE Chemistry.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Edinburgh. I also have a 1st class honours degree in Mathematical Physics, again from the University of Edinburgh.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35/hour for both GCSE and A-level tutoring.
- Where do you teach?
I prefer to teach at home in Palmers Green, but can travel to students' homes (however, I will have to charge extra for travel).
Enfield, Southgate, Barnet, Finchley, Edmonton, Muswell Hill, Crouch End are all reasonably close.
- When are you available?
I'm fairly flexible on availability - both weekdays (including evenings) and weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach GCSE Maths, Physics, Computing and Chemistry. At A-level, I teach Maths, Further Maths and Physics.
Typically, I teach students who are studying these topics at school, but I also teach anyone who wishes to take on these topics.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught at GCSE and A-level for the past 4 years. I also taught undergratuate physics and mathematics when I was a postgraduate student.
While working in industry, I have run courses in computer aided design, and more recently in project management and associated software packages.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I do not have an up-to-date DBS - it has never been a requirement for my employment to date.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied at the University of Edinburgh, both as an undergraduate and post graduate. As a post graduate student, I worked in the same theoretical physiscs group as Professor Peter Higgs (Nobel prize winner in Physics, 2013).
