I am a mature graduate teacher. I love my subject and am passionate about its importance in the school curriculum.

I teach History to GCSE and A level
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BA (Hons) in History from the University of London, 1981. I have a PGCE in Secondary Education from Exeter University, 1983. I have 'A' levels in History, Geography and English Literature, and 11 'O' levels from Bishop Fox's Girls Grammar School, Taunton. Whilst working in the private sector I gained an HNC in Business Studies from Exeter College. I am currently working towards an Open University degree in Humanities. So far I have completed two modules,gaining Distinction in both.
- How much do you charge?
My fees are £25 per hour, but I will consider discount for group bookings.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in West Swindon, Swindon, Wiltshire.
- When are you available?
I am available on weekdays and weekday evenings, but am able to be flexible as to times.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach GCSE and 'A' level, usually 14 - 18 years, but am happy to teach any age, including adults.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
A level and GCSE History. Others considered.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
My approach to tutoring is academic, methodical and committed, but I am friendly and approachable. Having two sons who are both now at university, I have spent a lot of time around young people, and therefore understand the pressure today's students are under to succeed. I offer a quiet environment in which to work and guarantee that each session will be meticulously planned and tailored to the needs of the individual student.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I taught History to 'A' level in a Buckinghamshire School, where I also taught PE, Geography to GCSE and Humanities to Year 9. I have designed, marked and moderated GCSE History papers. Besides teaching I have held administrative posts in both the private and public sectors. I have developed an evening course for adults on the reign of Elizabeth I which has been accepted by a local college.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a CRB disclosure certificate summer 2011.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I completed my PGCE at St Luke's, University of Exeter under Dr Jon Nichol. I trained in local secondary schools around Exeter but also spent some time at an Inner City School in Tower Hamlets.
