What I Offer?
Providing them guided understanding
It is important for children to have the particular understanding of a topic from an early age. A poor understanding at an early age can be difficult to correct and I will ensure that a good understanding is provided.
Giving them problems to solve and examples
In essence, improving your understanding is down to practice. I will provide your child with many questions to help further their understanding
Focusing on your child's exam techniques
Exams technique is a different aspect to understanding. Your child will have timed papers in order to simulate exam conditions.
A friendly and enjoyable atmosphere
It is important for your child to enjoy his experience. Children do not have a tendency to ask questions in class due to low self-confidence and low-self esteem. However, due to smaller groups, children are more confident and are able to express themselves.
I have tutored for over seven years from ages ranged from ten to eighteen in both Maths and Sciences, achieving successful grades for both national exams to university and entry requirements to new schools. I have been able to ensure that the full syllabus of the subject is covered so that the child is fully prepared for any exams.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching since I graduated from university, which is approximately 12 years. I have had a variety of clientelle, ranging from 7 year olds in preparation for primary school entry to 18 year olds who are soon to be taking their A-Levels.

Desmond is a patient tutor who is keen on instilling a solid understanding to begin with which is essential to mathematics. He is clear in his explanations and has a strong belief in practising the given methods thoroughly which this has given me a great deal of confidence which I lacked before in maths.
I had Desmond for my first year of A level, managing to attain a strong A grade and I am sure I will be able to continue my progress into my A2 with his help
Des was an extremely effective and diligent tutor for our daughter, providing consistent, challenging and fun lessons, which were tailored for her capabilities. We were very pleased that she obtained good As in her GCSE and A levels
At the moment, he is tutoring my son aged 11 years, also in mathematics. He is in a state school and we wanted Desmond to help increase his confidence and to bring him up to a level ready for secondary school. In the 8 months of tutoring with Desmond, Joseph has improved by 3 SATs sub-levels and now feels much more confident in Mathematics. He finds Desmond approachable and easy to ask questions if he is unsure of anything.
