Hi I'm Matt! I give music lessons on the Violin or Viola, Composition lessons and Music Theory lessons. I am capable to teach up to a Grade 5/6 standard in any of these topics, as well as low level piano playing (around Grade 3/4). I have also taken GCSE and A-Level music, so I am also able to give informative lessons regarding these examinations. Lesson techniques and methods vary for each topic and student, so I create fun and specialised lessons suitable for each student and their abilities. I am friendly, supportive and more than happy to help you fulfill your musical ambitions!
I am a University student who has played the Violin up to Grade 5, and now play the Viola where I achieved a high merit at Grade 8. I am currently working towards my Diploma. I have led the viola section in the Essex Youth Orchestra, as well as leading multiple ensembles in my secondary school. I have completed Grade 5 music theory, and I am a confident musican with a strong passion for music!
I spent two years of secondary education at Becket Keys CofE school, and moved to spend a further three years of secondary education at Brentwood Private School since 2014. My GCSE results were very successful, and I performed higher than I was predicted. I have since completed three A levels: History, Music and Business Studies, where I achieved B,B,B. I am currently studying Real Estate at Nottingham Trent University

Voluntary Work and Work Experience
Ingatestone Library (2015-16):
In 2015 and 2016, I volunteered at my local library (Ingatestone Library) to help with the Summer Reading Challenge. This involved helping people in my local community, especially children and the elderly. I had to listening to children and teenagers explain the books which they had read, and ask questions based on their response. This gave me more confidence in my communication and aural skills. I gave advice to their parents on what books would be appropriate for their age, and didn’t stop until they were satisfied with books I had chosen for them. I served customers at the till, taking payments and managed the front desk independently. I organised the books in the library in a tidy and coherent manner, and single-handedly put up new displays which would be appealing to the whole community. I also worked well with the library staff at peak times, to quickly and effectively help each customers and managing for their personal needs in a professional manner. All of this required me to be patient, organised and work well in a team while under pressure.
Moonlight Design Lighting Company (2016-2018):
Additionally, I have several weeks of experience in the workplace, as I have worked part time with an exterior lighting company, ‘Moonlight design’. From this, I have gained countless useful skills and experiences, primarily involving working long and intense hours, and left to work independently on specific tasks. Working with the lighting company has given me considerable preparation and a solid understanding of how to work effectively and efficiently in the workplace.
Music is one of my greatest and most successful interests. I have achieved a distinction in grades 5, 6, 7 and a merit in 8 on the viola with exceptional marks. I also obtained an impressive mark in grade 5 jazz piano, and am continuing to widen my knowledge and understanding of the diverse world of modern jazz. I am involved in two essex orchestras: The Essex Youth Orchestra and the Essex Chamber Orchestra, two prestigious county orchestras. I attend two school orchestras where I am the leader of my section, showing my hard work ethic and commitment to have gotten to where I am. Furthermore, I take part in an annual National Youth Orchestra Inspire courses, further developing and advancing my technique and skills. I make a valuable contribution to these orchestras and am always happy to help those who are struggling or in need of help.
I am available part time on most days of the week and weekends.
