Matthew is probably one of most interesting teachers I have known in the last few years. Correct, polite, funny and with a strong empathic sense due to his artistic propensity and will be able to find the best method to facilitate your learning. Try him.
Matt was my all time favourite teacher. Because of him, I remember things about plays to this day, I would have forgotten the next hour with anyone else.
He’s engaging and passionate but not in a cringey way, everything was just an easy conversation of learning.
I had the pleasure of being tutored by Dr Matthew Cawson at Royal Holloway university. He was by far one of the most engaging lecturers there, who possessed the ability to make seemingly impenetrable topics incredibly accessible and enjoyable. He was always friendly and welcoming, going beyond his duties as a tutor to help his students grasp these complex ideas, and inspiring us to delve into them further. Without Dr Cawson, I would not be where I am today as a theatre-maker.
Matthew is understanding and help you at what ever level you are and will work to get you to where you want to be. He find different ways of teaching and is really helpful when you can’t grasp something and showing you a different way to look at it. Highly recommendable
Matt taught me in college till 2007, 11 years later and I still remember all the guidance and advice he provided me. A truly profound individual not only academically but as a person, no teacher in my experience cares as much about his students as Matt does.
