I'm highly experienced in supporting students (at all levels) in understanding the important academic and business concepts. This is especially the case where the learner has English as a second language.
I would introduce (and explain) the key theoretical concepts, enabling students to understand them without extensive reading or research of their own.
I would then provide real-world examples that either support or question the relevant theories. These examples would be drawn from original research into practical historical or business examples.
My teaching input is designed to move the learner quickly through the relevant concepts, enabling them to develop the critical thinking that typical attracts higher achievement and results.
I am a UK graduate (D.Phil) tutor, with 20 years educational experience. I have worked at every level of education, from primary to postgraduate; I've also trained business practitioners. I have successfully supported thousands of students, many of whom have obtained good quality degrees and achieved business objectives.

Qualification for Headship, National College for School Leadership, 2005.
I have trained and tutored students at every age, from Year 3 (aged 7) to undergraduates, postgraduates, and practising business professionals. I have developed tailored lesson plans for diverse needs, including those for students with English as a second language. My planning and monitoring covers exam preparation, dissertation proposals, and business reports. My areas of experience and expertise are outlined below.
Working with undergraduates and postgraduates, 1993-1999.
I lectured and tutored undergraduates and postgraduates across a variety of humanities subjects. This included supported learners who had English as a second language, or specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia. During this period, I also worked with the British Council developing cultural and academic links between the UK and New Zealand.
Working with young students 1999-2006.
As a teacher and special educational needs coordinator, I supported younger students (aged 7-12) in literacy, numeracy, and exam preparation objectives. In this context, special educational needs included provision for gifted and talented learners.
2006 to present.
I carry out a consulting role with Insight2Implementation, (i-2-i Ltd), a UK-based international management and coaching company. I enjoy working with experienced professionals on improving leadership, performance, and change management skills. I lead group exercises and provide individual support and feedback, in order to help students achieve their growth objectives.
This role incudes supporting learners with written assessments and presentations, incorporating editing, proofreading, and detailed tutoring on personal development objectives.
After working in the music industry for Virgin Records and CBS, I returned to higher education in 1989 and obtained a first-class honours degree, subsequently obtaining a master’s distinction and a D.Phil. Whilst studying for the latter I also researched and lectured for the British Council, in the UK and overseas.
After completing my doctorate, I became a published author and taught at a British University, covering subject areas such as economics, business, politics, and history. I then decided to study for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and, after completing this, taught in the UK state school sector, eventually becoming a special educational needs coordinator, assistant head teacher, and completing the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) programme.
After retiring from this post, I was invited to take up a research and consultancy role in Insight2Implementation, (i-2-i), an international training organisation, working with numerous multinational corporations. Examples of the latter include Nokia, Sony, Outokumpu, MSD, BNP Paribas, Priory Group, and Drager Medical. In addition to this, I enjoy freelance research, proofreading and writing work on range of topics.
