The way I plan lessons for each student is different and based on what their individual needs and goals are. For a large part of my musical education I was taught by following the graded syllabuses, which I feel covers many essential aspects of playing the drums and provides a good sense of direction for learning to be a rounded and confident player. I normally recommend having a look at the graded syllabuses but there are some who prefer a less technical and more casual approach to learning the drums.
I am a 23 year old Leeds College of Music Graduate. Having lived abroad for much of my life, I am naturally adaptable to new situations, cultures, environments and people; I have lived in France, Hong Kong and Belgium as well as the UK.
I've been taught how to play the drums by at least ten different professionals who have all had a significant impact on my outlook to playing the drums. Because of this I also have a lot of first hand experience with different teaching styles and so I know what kind of lesson keeps people interested and engaged.
I have experience with both the Trinity Guildhall and the Rock School syllabuses and passed my Grade 8 exam with distinction at the age of 16. In addition to this I studied both Music and Music Technology at GCSE and A levels, therefore I have a good knowledge of music theory.
I currently play with a number of bands in Leeds, one of which is a professional function/wedding band which I am the manager of. I also have a lot of performance experience having played with many ensembles in the past such as wedding bands, dance bands, jazz band, big band, worship group and choirs to name a few.
