I have just completed my university degree in Modern European Languages and History and I'm looking to teach secondary school students in either history or Spanish. I am a patient and creative individual, willing to tailor my tutoring style to the learning/assessment requirements of the student.
I have worked as a language teacher in a community school, during my university holidays for a number of years. Last year I worked as an English language assistant in a university in Puebla, Mexico, in addition to giving private tuition in English.

Employment & Key Skills
I have worked in a great variety of job roles, from working as a language assistant and a retail sales assistant, to working in a call centre and a charity shop. This variety has enabled me to develop various skills in dealing with different members of the public, problem-solving, working under pressure, meeting deadlines and working as part of a team. Working in Mexico has broadened my horizons greatly and has forced me to learn how to adapt to unexpected situations and different cultural expectations calmly and efficiently. I have also developed a high standard of communication skills through dealing with both phone inquiries and face-to-face interactions.

Last year while in Mexico, I participated in a model United Nations event in Mexico City; working in the International Monetary Fund, this involved not only researching and debating trade policy, but finding a compromise between delegates and writing a resolution. Following that experience, I have participated in two more conferences this year: at Cambridge University and at Durham University. I also participated in several events for the charity ‘Techo’, including a donation collection and a construction project building emergency housing for a deprived family in Jalisco, Mexico. I also have a passion for language; while at home I often volunteer at my local Gujarati school, teaching children not only the Gujarati language but also culture. In addition to speaking Spanish and Gujarati, I have taken 1-year courses in Catalan and Mandarin, and this year I undertook an evening course in French this academic year.
