One hour long lessons should begin with a 5-10 minute recap of content taught in previous sessions, focused specifically around questions that the student may have. The bulk of the lesson should consist of sharing relevant documents and worksheets through Google Drive to be completed immediately or as homework, as well as discussing points brought up within said activities and exploring the subject matter further through online activities and videos.
Hello, I'm Adam. I graduated from Durham University in summer 2021 with an integrated masters degree in Earth Sciences (first class honours). I have always loved studying the sciences, which led to me reading Earth Sciences at university as it contains aspects of all of the other sciences studied previously as well as the appeal of exploring our amazing planet in the field. Within earth sciences, I have a particular passion towards palaeontology - the study of ancient life and their fossilised remains - and served as the president of Durham University Palaeontological Society from 2019 to 2021. I completed a geological mapping dissertation focused on the Lake District Central Fells in 2019 as well as a palaeontological research project relating to Cambrian-Ordovician shelled invertebrates through 2020 and 2021.
I look forward to helping you with your education!
I am willing to teach Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, General Science, Geology and Physical Geography at GCSE level. I can also assist with Geology at A Level as well as undergraduate level Earth Sciences (especially Geology and Palaeontology), having achieved a first class honours Earth Sciences degree in summer 2021.
In the four years of my Earth Sciences integrated masters degree, I gained significant experience with multi-directional scientific communication, creating informative and appealing presentations, and creating activities to aid in the learning of others online. In one example, I received a prize from my university department for excellence in creating and presenting virtual seminars and 'field trip substitutes' to my peers as part of a pandemic replacement for a field trip to Nevada and California in May 2021. In addition, I hosted meetings of the Durham University Palaeontological Society for two years which involved creating and presenting educational but fun meetings based around powerpoint presentations, relevant videos, activities, friendly group discussions and quizzes.
