I would be happy to tutor and plan activities for children 8-11 in their reading and language skills, and for ages 11+ would tailor my tutoring to their specific needs. As above, my expertise lies in critical thinking, modern studies/sociology, and languages. I have experience both working from homework and coursework, and coming up with my own lesson plans based on my knowledge of communication and teaching methodologies. I have a lot of patience and empathy when students are struggling, and often like to prepare varied activities and learning styles for sessions so that they don't lose interest or feel burned out. I have also worked with dyspraxic and dyslexic children and teenagers in the past, and understand the value of adapting to different learning styles and paces.
I am a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh, where I graduated top of the PG taught Law School in my Criminology MSc. I am particularly interested in sociology, languages, and modern studies/history. I achieved straight As in my Highers and Advanced Highers and engaged in tutoring younger students throughout (in English, French and Spanish), in particular helping out students with Dyslexia. I have worked throughout both of my University degrees, and have engaged in various group training roles, as well as privately tutoring a Catalan 13 year old learning English for a resit exam. She had really hated the subject because she was struggling, but after our time together she built up a lot of confidence and passed her resit with flying colours!
