Having just finished school I can relate very closely with students going through the current exam system and have a large set of effective tips and tricks that make great results much easier to achieve. I am a strong believer in getting students to understand topics instead of memorising them as it allows them to notice the key links between the topics and betters them, not just for exams, but later on in life as well. I believe one can learn anything if they are equipped with the tools to do so. I therefore explain strategies the tutee can use to help break apart difficult concepts into simpler, easier to understand parts which allows them to push their knowledge further whilst not being overworked. I always aim to have students engaged in what they’re learning which I achieve with through humour and by building a rapport with them which keeps the session enjoyable and relaxed.
I have one years' tutoring experience tutoring an S2 and a GCSE student in both maths and chemistry. I was able to raise the S2 student from fails and passes to consistent A’s and guided her to a new-found interest in maths. In my last year of school, I volunteered as an assistant teacher in an S2 maths class helping the students with any problems they encountered and occasionally teaching them new content.
