About the lesson
I have taught a wide variety of people over the past few years, from relative beginners to advanced-level students, at all ages. I adapt my teaching style for the individual needs for each student, implementing several revision techniques I employed to my own studies.
For individual tutoring, I like to obtain details surrounding the course the student is undertaking; allowing me to prioritise topics relevant for the examination board. I also like to determine what the career aspirations of the student are, so we could potentially organise a plan of action to help them become more attractive to potential colleges/universities.
Lessons will usually focus around my own Powerpoint slides, which consist of a range of diagrams, questions and workflows that help to keep each tutoring session fresh and enjoyable, in parallel to enhancing the memory retainment of my students.
I have experience in individual tutoring with GSCE, A Level and University students. As a particular example, a student and I initially went through the syllabus for their Biology course, outlining specific strengths and weakness. This allowed my tutoring sessions to primarily focus on topics which needed improving. Taking this approach also allowed me to prepare questions and additional material ahead of time.

About Dr. Edward Wickstead
Currently I am a neuroscience post-doctoral researcher, wherein my research focuses on the role that neuroinflammation has in the propagation and development of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. I currently carry out my work with The University of Arizona, moving over here from London in 2019. However, I still actively tutor students based in the UK over Zoom or Skype. My emails are also open every day for my students, outside of the scheduled lesson time. This is particularly helpful for coursework assignments.
Prior to this, I obtained my PhD from Queen Mary, University of London. Queen Mary was voted 2nd in the UK for Medicine and 3rd for Dentistry (Guardian University Guide 2017) and one of the UK's leading research intensive medical schools (REF 2014). I also hold a first class honours bachelors degree in Biomedical Science from King's College London.
I am currently researching the drivers of Alzheimer's disease. I am also an undergraduate human physiology lecturer, wherein in teach 1st and 2nd year students human physiology and anatomy. The course covers the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, and endocrine systems, alongside laboratory practicals, including measurements of cardiovascular and respiratory function. I am also the course leader for an introduction to neurodegenerative disease class: the only one available within the university.
I received A grades in both A Level Biology and Chemistry, and I am well versed as a private tutor for both GCSE/IGCSE Science, alongside A Level Biology and Chemistry.

Ted has proven to be a great tutor for my daughter who is studying for her GCSEs. Not only does he provide a thorough but flexible approach to covering off the required topics, he does so in a manner that engages her interest in the subject. I am sure the fact that they get on well with each other contributes to the successful outcome.
Thoroughly recommended.Really friendly and nice to talk with. Thank you for all your help Edward!
Edward is doing a great job in helping our son with his GCSE sciences and improving his grades to A-A* level. He prepares well for the sessions and follows up if there are any outstanding questions. I highly recommend him!
A1* we can highly recommend Ted. I have 3 children and have therefore had many tutors over the years and I can safely say that Ted is one of the best we have ever had! He is highly motivated and dedicated to getting the best from his students. He writes computer models to inspire and comes fully prepared for each lesson! Due to his enthusiasm for the subject, which he imparts with calm and patience, it rubs off and my daughter now loves science!!!!!!!
The endless support and encouragement from Edward is very good especially when in need of help it is sure to say he will help and take his own time away from tutorials to help.
He always made an effort to answer tutorial questions, if he didn't know the answer he would find it and get back to us the following week. Was welcoming and approachable to all students. All round literally perfect tutor
