About the lesson

I am well established and dedicated musician with over 10 years experience as a professional singer, pianist and teacher. I work with beginners through to professional performers, introducing a healthy method of singing designed to provide a strong technique that will lead you into any genre of your choosing. I am happy to accompany pupils in lessons which significantly speeds up the initial learning process. I am also available to play for your examinations, auditions and performances. Students have seen significant changes in their technique and ease of singing, and excellent results are achieved in ABRSM, LCM, and TRINITY examinations, and at GCSE, A-Level, undergraduate & postgraduate level examinations.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

Singing: Classical, Pop and Music Theatre singing.
ABRSM, TRINITY and LCM examination boards all covered.
From beginners to diploma level, any age and experience is welcome.

Theory: Grades 1-8 covered. Grade 5 theory is a specialty!

Aural Development: For singers and instrumentalists.
Aural tests are a major part of any music board examination and the marks can mean the difference between a merit and distinction in your overall
score. Simple techniques and methods can improve your approach and response to aural tests increasing your overall mark.

GCSE & A/AS level tutoring:
Essay writing, recital programme design and note writing, performance coaching and composition all covered.

Performance coaching:
GCSE, A-level and undergraduate/postgraduate performance coaching and programme design/note writing.
Accompaniment/ensemble skills coaching.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

BA (Music) - Bristol University
MA (Peformance) - York University
I regularly attend courses run by the British Voice Association covering methods of vocal training and health/speech techniques, and have written for their magazine.

- How much do you charge?

Consultation lessons are charged as follows:
Grades 1 - 5: 30 minutes - FREE
Grades 6 & 7: up to 60 minutes - £20
Grade 8 + : up to 90 minutes - £30

Lessons are typically £35 per hour/£20 half hour and are subject to rise in line with inflation/cost of living.
A discount is made for block bookings.

Half day and Day workshops fees are available for ensemble coaching and choir training.

- Where do you teach?

I teach and coach across London and the North East of England.
Lessons and academic sessions are given at my home in Willesden Green, although arrangements can be made to travel to you.
A fee may have to be added for travel if you are 20 miles or more from NW2.

- When are you available?

Monday - Fri: 9am - 9pm
Weekends can vary according to my diary.
Lessons and workshops can be arranged for weeks outside term.
I am available as an accompanist/choir trainer at any point in the year.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

All ages and capabilities are warmly welcomed.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

Individual students choose to progress in different ways, and I will never put pressure on a student to take examinations if it is not what they want to do.

ABRSM: From Prep test to Diploma
LCM: Pop and Musical Theatre at all levels.
TRINITY: Singing and Piano at all levels.
GCSE, A-Level recitals and performances.
Undergraduate & Postgraduate recitals and performances.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

Guidance for any subject can be given by email for free, but only in conjunction with regular paid sessions in person.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

My approach is entirely based on your individual needs, and guarantees to introduce an easier and more natural process of singing. Singing is a study for me, not just a career, and I am fascinated by the questions and ideas people bring to their lessons.
