Hello! My name's Ellie, I'm a professional singer and vocal teacher offering tuition to anyone who wants to find or develop their singing voice. Do get in touch to discuss the possibilities for vocal lessons ((concealed information)
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach at home Kennington / Elephant and Castle. It's a wonderful room with an ace acoustic for singing. My approach has a strong emphasis on good classical technique as the basis for a variety of singing styles, including classical, jazz, pop and folk. The lessons build up strength, power and tone of voice through work on breathing and support and bridging the gap between 'chest' and 'head' registers. In my experience, everyone has a voice and lessons are about learning how to make the most of it. We'll explore and expand the most resonant areas of the voice and build strength in those areas that are weak: extending vocal range, tuning, releasing tension and thinking about the communication of the music… AND we have loads of fun!

- What kind of experience do you have?
Teaching for 5 years, my approach has a strong emphasis on good classical technique as the basis for a variety of singing styles, including classical, jazz, pop and folk. I encourage a singing technique built up through work on breathing, support, bridging the gap between 'chest' and 'head' registers and extending vocal range. In my experience, everyone has a voice and lessons are about learning how to make the most of it. Singing is a wonderful way to develop all round musicianship but also confidence and mood in other areas of life.
I lead a choir that meets every Tuesday evening. 'One Creek Road' is a great fun community choir that sings about 6 gigs a year. Here I teach original arrangements of popular and less well known songs, and include focused work on breath and posture, aural skills, performance skills, musical confidence and all round musicianship for the best possible group sound.
I currently deliver a music and singing workshops to a groups of young adults with Aspergers syndrome for Squeaky Gate, a mental health music charity in Deptford. With a varied repertoire that draws on music from all over the world, this tailor-made course comprises a series of a creative multi-media workshops. A key focus is the voice, but with this particular client group developing team-work and confidence are very important. Activities include song writing, poetry, harmony and rhythm exercises, covering and arranging original versions of popular songs as well as dance and movement.
As a freelance singer I perform collaborate with a number of musical projects including the following:
