Violin (both Classical and Electric) and Theory of Music.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Diploma in Instrumental Teaching (ABRSM) specialising in the Violin and Licentiate (LNCM) in Performance.
While at the East Sussex Academy of Music I achieved the double Music A level (Theoretical and Practical) and German A level. Also Grade 8 Theory of Music. Grade 8 Violin with Distinction. I studied piano and singing as second studies.
- How much do you charge?
Hourly rates vary depending on the instrument and subject. Half hourly rates available on request. Online lessons now available.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Truro, Cornwall. I can travel to students' houses if necessary, but I have a comfortable and well equipped music room available.
Should you need recording opportunities, I can arrange this. Also audition practise, masterclass opportunities available through ESTA.
- When are you available?
I am available during the day, some evenings and weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach from five years to eighty years old, from beginners to Diploma level.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Associated Board of the Royal schools of Music. I have a very good pass rate with Merit and Distinction often being achieved.
Also National College of Music London exams now being offered.

- Do you have a personal message for students?
If you fall in love with the violin, you will want to practise and become a better player.
- What kind of experience do you have?
Having around thirty years of experience, and being privileged to teach in some of the most prestigious schools in the area, I aim pass on my love of music and learning.
The violin is a challenge, but with determination and hard work, as well as fun along the way, it is a journey that I embark on with each student. I treat everyone as individuals and do expect my students to take personal responsibility for their own practice. Progress is so much faster this way.
Pupils' Concerts and exams are offered, but not expected.

Having come back to the violin after nearly sixty years, Elisabeth Holman has taken me from retracing my earliest, mostly lost, musical steps through to achieving passes in ABRSM exams, including a merit and a distinction in Grades 4, and 5 so far.
