About the lesson
I'm a friendly, approachable french horn/brass and piano teacher, living in North West London
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the French horn, brass, piano and music theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
Royal Academy of Music:
Master of Arts (Distinction)
BMus- 1st Class (Hons)
A Levels: AAA GCSEs: 10 A*-A level ABRSM Grade 8 Piano (Distinction) 2004
- How much do you charge?
£40 per hour, £25 for 30 mins, £35 for 45 mins. This is to cover time spent travelling to and from lessons, as well as travel costs for public transport. I have only recently increased my fees after 5 years, after gaining my qualifications at the royal academy of music and also I am now a very experienced teacher.
- Where do you teach?
I can teach brass in my flat in Wembley Park (although I don't have a piano) and can also travel to students' homes. I live in Wembley Park,so anywhere within easy reach on the Jubilee or Metropolitan line is ideal (Willesden Green/ Kilburn/ Cricklewood/ West Hampstead/ Finchley Road/ Neasden/ Dollis Hill/ Preston Road). Or anywhere in North West London is easily accessible by bus (Queen's Park/ Maida Vale/ Kensal Green/ Brondesbury/ Hampstead).
- When are you available?
I am very flexible and am certain to be able to find a time which suits us both.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages, and all levels.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am flexible to work for whatever the student would like to; I often found working towards ABRSM exams a bit limiting and boring when I was younger, but I'm happy to do this and try and inject a bit of fun into learning so the exams seem less daunting.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I'm looking forward to sharing my love of music with you, and finding fun ways to teach so that you enjoy learning as much as I did.

About Elise
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught the piano since I was 16, and French horn/ brass during my years studying at the Royal Academy of Music. I also tutor on the Yorkshire Youth Sinfonia course (and so am fully DBS checked).
I was co Principal horn of Scottish Opera for 2 years, and am now back in London freelancing as a horn player again. I have worked with the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, London Chamber, BBC Symphony and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras, all major Scottish and Welsh Symphony Orchestras, and regularly play on London film session recordings (for example I am playing on 'the Hobbit' and Florence and the Machine's most recent album)
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes

I studied the piano with Anna Markland (previous winner of BBC Young Musician of the Year) at Aylesbury Music Centre, before learning with Graham Caskie at the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department. I studied french horn with Simon De Souza at jRAM, before gaining a full scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, where I study under Michael Thompson, Richard Watkins and Martin Owen.
