Personalisation is a key feature of my methodology. In order to help learners engage, I find it very beneficial to get to know them as a person in order to build their interests into the teaching content. My lessons are very learner focused, with feedback playing a key role in keeping the learner aware of their progress and what they can actively do to improve. I like to deliver well structured lessons with clear objectives which are reviewed with the learner at the end of each class when reflecting on future lessons to ensure there is clear progression from one class to the next. One of my favourite areas to work on is speaking and increasing learner fluency without them being afraid to make mistakes.
I have been giving one to one lessons for over a year. Previously, I taught English full time to small groups of adults in a private school in Swansea, Wales. I find that my command of Spanish, Portuguese and Italian is very helpful when teaching students who speak these languages as I can act as a translator where necessary which helps speed up the learning process. My main aim is to build up my students' confidence by giving them the tools they need to communicate effectively in English. I actively seek to adapt my classes to cater for their individual interests and requirements/ gaps in knowledge. I hope that my classes prove engaging and informative.
