Holding a good Metallurgy degree from a prestigious university, I have been an Engineer for most of my working life, and have dealt with all aspects of engineering products, design - including CAD - and New Product introduction. Now as a business owner and part-time lecturer in these subjects, I am adept at helping learners flourish.

Completing self-sourced writing work and technical writing assignments. I run my own company bidding for and completing international writing work. I write blog articles, technical reports including patents and intellectual property work, educational material, Quality System Documentation, Game reviews for PC and Xbox, and creative writing projects to order.

2009 – 2012 Quality Manager. Rockwell Collins UK ltd, Burgess Hill, Sussex.
Responsible for product quality and customer satisfaction on three Rockwell Collins sites. Controlling a team of ten Quality Engineers and Technicians on three sites, the role required that a focus on the changing needs of the company and redirecting my staff as appropriate. Maintained close liaison with both customers to complete Corrective Action Requests to conclusion, and to ensure a smooth flow of information. Set up and ran Customer Satisfaction teams and instigated regular cadence calls with those customers.
Operation, maintenance and enhancement of the company quality system and procedures and the generation of compliant Quality systems in new company acquisitions.
Regular company business trips undertaken to the company head office in the USA and customer sites as required. Worked directly with company representatives from Thales, Lockheed Martin, Flight Safety International, CAE, Boeing Flight Training, Lufthansa etc.

Manager in charge of Quality and Support activities in world-wide offices, including USA, China, and Thailand.
The daily running of the company quality system including document control, corrective/preventive actions, control of internal audits, and promotion of the quality ethos within the organisation. Hosted external audits by both registering bodies and customers as required. Dealt with supplier quality issues, customer complaints and quality requests, quality system maintenance, and Production support. Directed technical personnel in corrective-action related support issues to production and warranty issues.
Developed the Mecmesin quality system from paper-based to a centralised electronic version and implemented ISO 9000 at the new manufacturing site in Wuhan China. This required visits to Wuhan to implement, ensure conformity, and to select quality inspection personnel. Gave instructional tutorials to the manufacturing, design, and quality functions of the Chinese manufacturing arm and specific product and component training to Quality staff.
2006- 2008 Quality Systems Manager. Watermill Products (Grundfos), Edenbridge Kent.
In charge of day-to-day quality control, and implementation of both a QMS and an EMS from first principles.
The daily running of the quality control department required coordinating the work of two inspectors to ensure that incoming goods were inspected to required standards, and collating/assessing non-conformances and failures found in Production. Reporting of these details and other self-chosen KPI’s at the monthly managers meeting, and formulating corrective action plans with Production or suppliers as required. Worked closely with suppliers to ensure design compliance and ongoing quality plans. Inspection tools and training selected as appropriate and purchase orders raised against a self-controlled budget.
Developed a Quality Management System compliant to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 from current work practices, with modifications made to current procedures as appropriate. New procedures designed and implemented as required to ensure full compliance to the standard via auditing. Generated a five-year plan for carbon neutrality and wrote business plans for £36,000 worth of solar panelling. Arranged required services including Legionella testing, air conditioning contracts, heater servicing, and all recycling options. Trained and oversaw the work of two new internal auditors. Selected accrediting auditors and hosted arranged external audits.

Project Lead organising the daily running of multi-disciplined engineering teams in the New Product Introduction (NPI) section for industrial high-vacuum pumps. The role required the generation of detailed project plans and the allocation of both short-term tasks and longer-term goals for up to a dozen team members. Financial planning and forward-looking budgets for both capital equipment and general project spend undertaken.
Project reporting carried out via monthly reviews with senior management, which required the generation and delivery of a presentation outlining project status, technical, production engineering issues, and financial statements as necessary.
Chaired design and safety reviews for each project at appropriate sections of the plan and was a signatory for the main design and safety documentation. Responsible for all project technical and commercial risk assessments.

Project Engineer/Leader for speed and torque sensors for Military jet engines with responsibility for the design and implementation of new products.
