I want to help any and all students studying maths and physics, at any SQA level, or pre exam level. This could be to cover a broad array of topics to develop understanding and help ensure a pass, or to target specifics and assist with revision and study to make an A more secure. I also understand that maths can be difficult in school as you are almost forced to take it for some amount of time, and under a one size fits all approach, so I can tailor teaching directly to students to make concepts more understandable and methods of practice more enjoyable as confidence is key when it comes to SQA maths.
I am an Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Student. I have experience with peer support and mentoring in SQA courses and in taking them myself. I also have a breadth of experience in outreach and STEM education and I am a registered, background checked STEM Ambassador. Although new to official tutoring I have helped develop study plans and covered topics in new ways for younger students I have mentored throughout high school and by background in STEM outreach means I am very familiar with common issues students face with the current curriculum.
I am very familiar with the Course Assessment Specifications and the Curriculum for Excellence, as well as the University application process looks like.
In regards to Accreditation I scored Credit in first year as well as achieving A in Advanced Maths and A in Higher Physics as part of two A's at Advanced Higher and 6 A's at Higher.
I'm a 2nd year Engineering student and I teach maths and physics, as well as any related subjects surrounding engineering up to Advanced Higher level with much of my focus and experience being around maths.
I am happy to offer bespoke teaching, covering exactly what you as the student feels you need, as well as general coverage and a strengthening of understanding for a whole course. I also think its important to develop exam techniques and an understanding of what the current SQA exams look like so that confidence is strengthened in a subject.
I predominantly teach lessons online but I am happy to teach in person in my area. Lessons will involve initial discussion to get to know students a bit better and their specific needs, as well as to develop and cement subject knowledge. Then, depending on the student, a wide variety of teaching could follow, whether that is covering specific issues more in depth, working through exercises, developing concepts through study, and then working on readiness for exams and prelims.
Of course all of it depends on the student, I'm a tutor so it's important what I do fits students specific to their unique needs.
As Brandon's peer at university, he often participates in outreach activities helping young people with STEM-related subjects. He is a patient and knowledgeable individual and with his friendly attitude makes him a great tutor.
Brandon is a close friend of mine who I have known for years. He is a very smart and caring guy who will also do what he can to help people. So I am more than confident in saying that he will do exactly the same for his students and will improve upon their knowledge in maths.
