I am a kinaesthetic learner, so believe in applying the knowledge to learn it best, rather than just reading from a textbook or having someone talk at you. I like to find different ways to explain things, particularly things that are not obvious at first glance such as electronics (for example, I visualise the electrons flowing through the wires as water flowing through pipes).
I will ask you to do a learning style questionnaire before the first session (or do it with you at the start of the first session if this is what you prefer) so I know how you best learn, and can adapt my teaching style accordingly.
I am in my 4th year out of 6 of an engineering apprenticeship, in 2nd year of an Applied Engineering degree (had 2 years of college before university). Have a Foundation Degree in Engineering, got ABB at A Level (with a C grade AS) and 7 A*s & 4 As at GCSE.
I have approximately 5 years of Scouting Volunteer experience, as a Young Leader for Beavers (6-8 year olds) and as an Assistant Scout Leader (10-14 year olds), so have experience dealing with young people and helping them thrive. I also have inattentive type ADHD and am awaiting assessment for autism, so know how to adapt lessons to suit neurodiverse learning styles, and am experienced in managing the symptoms these can cause such as sensory and focus issues.
