I have always taught the children I work with to strip back to the basics and show them that you don't have to understand something the exact way a textbook wants you to. Whilst it helps, some brains do not work that way. Pragmatism is what makes my lessons successful, I am able to observe when a method is and isn't working, and adapt the lesson I am giving so the child is able to understand.
I am a final year engineering student with experience working as a teaching assistant and a supervisor at a tutoring company in London. I have tutored children in English, maths and science but also in preparation for entrance exams in to schools. I have worked with children with a variety of learning abilities.
