My method changes depending on the student and their particular needs. I cater for any student and for any special educational needs. Lessons are best from my home as I have a small classroom set up with useful aids and parents are more than welcome to stay and overwatch the lesson with a cuppa.
I am an English Language and Literature tutor who mainly helps with GCSE exams and re-sits. So far all of my pupils have achieved higher grades on their re-sits and have surpassed the predicted grades given to them by their teachers. I have easy to follow lessons and provide hand-outs and homework. I've had a lot of experience with education and I study it at university - this includes modules such as 'The Psychology of Education'. I have been tutoring guitar for many years and started tutoring English Language and Literature a few years ago and focus mainly on GCSE tuition. I teach all levels so don't hesitate to try me - if you're at foundation level or in the higher tier then I can certainly help. A-level students can contact me too.
I have tutored English Language and Literature GCSE students for the last 4 years and I keep up to date with the exam boards by visiting their websites and checking their updates regularly. I studied English and Education at Cardiff Met because I aspire to be a teacher one day and I'm passionately interested in both topics - I write and read regularly for enjoyment and I am a keen follower of education-related news.
I aim to adapt my lessons to meet the specific needs of the individual student and I will create homework and revision sheets which will be tailored in a way that is easiest for them to learn from. I have a fair amount of experience of teaching students of all ages, from primary up to GCSE and I feel like I teach these levels comfortably and always receive positive results. While my lessons are strictly about learning and not wasting any time or money, I like to think that I and my past students were able to achieve what we did without a single boring session - even if the topic was tedious (poetry seems to be a killer for boys) we got through it and enjoyed it with good laughs. I try to make my lessons as interactive as possible and although writing will be a necessity every lesson - exercises such as matching cards will be integrated and the use of video (all exercises will be age specific - GCSE students won't feel like they are being treated like children).
Long distance will need more travel money
I have gained a large amount of experience in both office and customer facing environments. With an organised and focused work practice, I have a pleasant and approachable manner whilst displaying a confident and mature attitude. I also have experience in an Engineering setting and am capable when using tools. I am able to pick new skills up quickly, my strong communication skills allow me to work efficiently with others when completing tasks. Given the opportunity I would strive to become a positive and valued representative for any company.

Since 2014 I have had my own tutor business of which I mainly teach guitar, literature and language. I have had much success with my students and I have created many competent guitarists and have given extreme confidence to my pupils taking GCSE’s and have always achieved them at least a grade higher than their predicted ones. I have taught people from the age of 5-75 so I have a vast range of experience. I have taught young people of all different abilities from higher paper to foundation and have even taught children with autism – again achieving great work.
July 2017-Current Team Leader/Bar Staff at the Duke of Wellington (Brains Pub), Cardiff
I returned to the Duke of Wellington in 2017 as I was able to immediately leave Thyssen and start back at the pub. Immediately I was shifted onto management training and attended many courses to learn how to effectively do the job. My roles included opening and closing the building when it was my shift in charge and I was also in charge of counting the tills and safe. I regularly took beer deliveries, took money to the bank and helped train new staff. When I was in charge of a shift it was up to me to ensure that it ran as smoothly as possible, I did this by delegating tasks and ensuring that we didn’t fall behind and if we did happen to then I would have to effectively plan and get the shift back up and running successfully. I also had to help people with problems inside of work and outside of work so that we knew our staff were happy and content with the work ahead.
July 2016-July 2017. Thyssenkrupp Elevator UK Ltd. Cardiff
I joined Thyssenkrupp as an Elevator Engineer Apprentice. Here, they are providing training in the form of two courses; an on the job NVQ and a 2 year college course in electrical engineering. On a day to day basis I would drive to whichever town or city that I needed to be in and repair and maintain elevators. Here I learnt how to drive industrial vehicles and learnt how to use tools efficiently. This job provided me with extensive health and safety training which includes working in confined spaces, working at heights, working with electricity etc.
March 2015-March 2016. Bar Staff at the Duke of Wellington (Brains Pub), Cardiff
At the Duke of Wellington I worked behind a busy bar mainly dealing with customer orders. I had to make sure the customer was 100% satisfied with every aspect of their visit from the welcome to the farewell. Keeping the pub clean was an important duty and I and other staff would regularly check the tables, floors and bathrooms for any mess. Another part of the job was to maintain the cellar which meant moving old barrels, cleaning the floor and taking out the bins. Changing of the kegs and barrels was also a key aspect to the job. This job gave me good experience for working in a busy atmosphere and helped me to gain the confidence to work in non-stop conditions such as when the Rugby World Cup was on and the Millennium Stadium was sold out (we were one of the closest pubs to the stadium).
June 2014-September 2014. Bar and Kitchen staff at The Bricklayers, Shrewsbury
At the Bricklayers I worked behind a busy bar and kitchen dealing with customer orders. In the kitchen I would pot wash and help prepare ingredients and behind the bar I served customers drinks and took their food orders. I also waited on tables delivering food and collecting plates and ensuring that the customer’s time at the pub was relaxing and enjoyable. I took this job on as a second job to earn more money during the summer.
August 2011 –March 2015. Taxi Controller at Comet Cars, Shrewsbury
At Comet Cars I was the first point of contact for the customers on the phone and face to face. My duties were to book jobs in to a complex computer system which included not only small jobs but also big jobs such as airport runs where timing was crucial. I also had to liaise with the drivers over the radio to ensure that they knew everything about their job and to ensure that everything was ok with them generally.
June 2011 - August 2011. Kitchen staff at The Coach and Horses, Shrewsbury
At the Coach and Horses I worked with-in a fast paced kitchen. My duties were to wash and dry all the dishes and cutlery that were constantly coming in. I also helped prepare food and starters for the meals.
September 2008- September 2011. Paper Delivery for The Co-operative, Shrewsbury
I had two paper rounds for this shop, one in the morning and one in the evening, and did them both for a few years. One summer I took on 8 paper rounds in the morning and 9 in the evening to earn extra cash. I hold the record (as far as I know) for most money earned there in a week using only a bike or walking (£106 but that was good for a 15 year old!).
January 2010- January 2010. Work Experience in Customer Service at Music Bros. , Shrewsbury.
I had to do a two week work experience when I reached year 10. I chose to do it here due to my passion for music. It was here that I began to learn the values of customer service and the importance of a clean working environment and shop.
