I tailor-make my lessons according to how a student finds learning most effective. I believe that it is important to fill in the foundation blocks of a subject before progress can be made further, following which I am led by the student and produce lesson plans accordingly in a no pressure environment.
With my BA (Honours) English Language and Literature, and my experience teaching students at a London college, I am here to help you realise your potential in English. As a mature student and recent graduate, I believe that I have the empathy to connect with my students, as this learning experience is so current; I can guide you through any difficulties which you may encounter with learning techniques, as well as in understanding what is required to be successful in the subject areas of English Language and Literature.
I am used to students who need a little more patience and nurturing in order to achieve their goals, as I have worked with a lot of EAL students. Additionally, I have a Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling, so you can be assured that I will listen to you and be guided on how you learn most effectively. I have learnt several languages myself, including German, Russian, French and Spanish, so I understand the discipline required to learn another language, and can pass on these skills to people who would like to perfect their English for work purposes, or who are looking to achieve a qualification. I am particularly strong on spelling and essay writing but enjoy teaching all aspects of English.
I have worked in various guidance roles within Primary and Secondary Education at both State and Independent sector schools, which has given me a rounded outlook on education and an insight into different syllabuses.
I look forward to meeting you.
