My teaching method is to make sure that a range of content is being covered whilst ensuring that the children are progressing. Topics such as improving grammar, practicing the conventions of different text types and creative writing are the ones that I most heavily try to work on. I think it's important for children to develop an understanding of accurate written communication and improve the way in which they articulate themselves. I appreciate that every child's attitude to learning is different and I try to accommodate my approach specifically to the student, most importantly on the basis of their age. I am very flexible with what topics I can offer them, since I've worked with such a diverse age group over the last year. I will make sure that my students can work towards identifying the word class of different vocabulary, distinguishing between homophones, knowing their pronouns and writing in different modes to a high standard. I give them comprehension tasks to make sure that they understand texts that they've read and so that they can be exposed to different styles of writing. For older ages, I can provide assistance in analysing texts and writing responses to literature.
I have 10 A*-C GCSE's and I am predicted an A in both English Language and English Literature at A-Level. I have been tutoring since November 2016, with a wide range of students from age 8 to age 16, which includes up to GCSE level.
