I'm a qualified teacher with 30 years experience of delivering English Language provisions leading to either ESOL Skills-for-life (L,2) or IELTS success. Additional experience of delivering schemes of work to Undergraduate and Postgraduate engineering and hard science students including examination preparation and study skills through both the mediums of TEFL and ESOL.
My occupational life began aged 16 as an Armed Forces apprentice-Marine Engineer. Following an interesting career I walked away having been taught and tested in leadership, role and importantly enabled to complete both undergraduate and postgraduate study. My first civilian role centered on the management of a Local Education Authority residential resource, for children and young people affected by Emotional, Behavioural & Social Difficulties. Moving forward; when responsibility for the residential care of under 18 year olds fell to Social Services (1990), the LEA responded by closing all educational residential provisions. At this point I returned to teaching, whilst undertaking a number of classroom based or 'teacher' research projects, leading to my PhD. I am now keen to engage in lecturing, tutoring or research work centring on education. My areas of academic interest settling on English, Archeology/History, /Philosophy/Sociology, and Chemistry.
