Methodology

I have been teaching in an adult setting for many years, covering colleges, training providers, offender learning and prisons. I currently teach English to adults up to level 2. I include interesting topics that help to 'stimulate' the student to want to participate, listen and learn. I teach all areas of punctuation and grammar. I cover literary techniques and identifying language in various texts such as newspapers, speeches etc.
I believe that learning needs to be 'fun' and to get the very best out of a student there must be a good clear rapport with the tutor and student.
I bring new teaching ideas forward to new or less experienced students; continually encouraging and supporting. I like to think that I contribute to create a positive working environment with my students. I promote a safe and supportive learning environment for the students. I continually promote equality and diversity, British values and safeguarding. I plan, design and develop resources to improve my teaching and therefore my students' learning. I keep up to date on methods, new systems of paperwork, and new ideas in teaching which helps to improve processes, overall delivery and ways of improving.

Experience

I am an English lecturer who currently teaches Functional Skills English at level 2. I have taught up to 25 students with excellent pass results. I am a dedicated lecturer who is patient, responsible with a positive attitude. I am passionate about teaching English and instilling the knowledge to others.

My name is Debra, I am a sociable, dynamic and highly trained English lecturer with expertise and experience in many areas of English. I am an articulate individual, with a proven track employment record and I feel passionate about learning and supporting students. Through teacher training and work experience I have gained the skills and confidence to recognise various/potential learning needs and to act appropriately. Evidence of my cognitive ability is shown in my teacher training portfolio and course work. I am able to get on well with people at all levels, easily making good, solid working relationships with natural communication skills developed through a steady working career. I possess a range of comprehensive skills that are transferable to many teaching/supporting roles.
