I have to admit I am new to tutoring. However, I see this as an advantage. I will be guided by my tutee's style of learning without an instilled way of teaching, making my tutoring unique, but also fluid. Because I am student led, I can adapt dependent on that student, or group of students. However, as a general rule my methods are around perfecting exam technique, if a tutee ends up finding a real passion for English- that's a bonus! I look at developing the correct writing style for exams, time management as well as filtering what is really necessary to secure the top grades. I will not bombard students with lots of information, for me, it is about creating a formula for each individual student in order to get them to the next stage of their school/academic career. I start with an introduction to how they would answer an exam-style question in an informal setting, via bullet points, initial thoughts and ideas, and then let them answer it in an essay format. This way, I can understand how best to help that student develop the skills needed to pass an exam.
I'm an English Literature student that has been involved in teaching roles on a voluntary basis for the last 6 years. I am available for all types of sessions, whether that be a 1:1 session, group discussion etc. Every lesson I teach will be varied, dependent on students and the qualification they are looking to achieve. I am very flexible in terms of availability and qualification. After a year where we have lost so much, I want to inspire confidence and excitement in students, so they can head into their English exams in the best position possible.
Cancellations - If the session is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged for that session.
I have A levels in English Literature, History and Politics. I am currently studying English Literature at the University of Lincoln, with an interest in nineteenth-century literature and feminist theory. I am graduating this summer with honours and starting a postgraduate course in English Literature in September. I hope to go on and teach secondary education, with a particular interest in teaching GCSE and A level. I have been volunteering in schools throughout my A levels and degree, as well as presiding over a society in my second year of university, all whilst maintaining a part-time job as a barista. I am hard-working, reliable and exceptionally driven, and I will do everything in my power to get my tutees the best grades possible.
Perfect! Georgia is well prepared to the lesson and positive encouragement to the student. Puzzle as a starter, and the lesson covered what we required. She has her method to tailor the student's need. I would recommend her to other students.
Georgia has been a great aid throughout my final years at University. Her patience and support is unmated among other students and our professors. I cannot recommend her enough for her knowledge and support.
