English literature student offering practical and engaging lessons to improve analysis and essay-writing skills

    • Cambridge

About the lesson

I'm a friendly sixth-form student looking to work with people who need support with English Literature. I try to tailor my lessons to the student, but the two main things I look at are essays and analysis. Being able to analyse, and do so quickly (particularly for those unseen poems) is a vital skill but not an easy one to acquire, which is where I come in. On the other hand, some students don't find the analysis itself difficult, but rather structuring it into a cohesive argument that works in an essay - in this case, I would focus on going through essays already written and identifying what works and where to improve, as well as looking at model essays to understand why they work.

About Elizabeth

I'm currently studying A-level English Literature and am on track to get an A*. I got full marks on both pieces of English Literature coursework at GCSE (as well as the two on the English Language GCSE). As an estimate, I have helped over 10 classmates with proofreading and editing their work, in an informal measure. However, I do have formal tutoring experience too, as a maths tutor. I've worked with children between the ages of 8 and 16 previously.
