My teaching method is designed for the individual as I prefer to assess the needs of my student. In English (literature), I would base my lessons around certain texts and their contexts, encouraging them to discuss so that they may develop independent analytical skills. Essay plans would be a key revision tool when the text has been covered.
In beginner's English, I would begin at a topic at a time, with quick review sessions of previous topics at the beginning and summative/specific reviews as homework. I use Quizlet quite heavily as part of out-of-lesson activities to encourage regular practice throughout the week.
In Maths, lessons begin with various examples which they record in a book for future reference/revision, followed by extensive practice under guidance, with a ranging difficulty.
Currently studying in King's College London, after completing 4 A levels (A*s in Maths, Further Maths, English and A in History) and 13 GCSEs (9s in English language, literature and Maths, A in FSMQ, Graphics and Chinese, A*s in triple science, computer science, French, history, music). I am Malaysian-Chinese but have been living in the UK since I was 2 years old. I have intermediate Mandarin skills so I am happy to teach beginner's English as a foreign language! Also would love to teach GCSE standard English literature and Maths/Additional Maths!
I've given one-on-one lessons to a 7 year old in basic Mandarin and volunteered as a Kumon assistant for 2 months.
