English can be scary - especially with the new changes to exams and the growing pressure to pass. I always say to my pupils that English is like sport: you get better by practising the skills.
From helping secure the basics in literacy, to guiding talented students into making the leap into becoming perceptive readers and writers, I can provide you with the strategies to improve your skills and confidence. I have great success with students who (understandably) find English a bit 'vague' and need something more concrete in terms of tried and tested formulas to pass exams.
I also mark and provide detailed feedback on practice exam responses.
My degree is in English Literature. I have been Head of English for eight years and I am in my tenth year of teaching.
I teach the full age range (11-18) and range of ability, including SEN. I am judged as an outstanding teacher with outstanding progress data. I am trained in delivering the new GCSE and my exam marking has been standardised.
I have tutored many students in the past and my part-time position means that I am able to offer tutoring once more.
