I am a recent graduate from Cambridge University, and I am keen to tutor both those students who struggle with English, and high-flyers who want to be challenged beyond the syllabus.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from Cambridge University in 2010 with a 2.1 in English. My degree involved studying literature ranging from the earliest English poets to present day writers, specialising in Medieval literature (including Chaucer) and Shakespeare in my final year, and I am happy to cover all texts to A-level standard.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £20 an hour for a private lesson. Before tutoring begins I offer a free 30 minute consultation session to discuss specific requirements with the student and their parent/guardian.
- Where do you teach?
I teach in students' homes.
- When are you available?
I am available between 6pm and 9pm on weekdays, and between 9am and 5pm at weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach all ages and levels up to A-level.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have worked with children in a number of settings; for example, three years ago I spent time in Swaziland working with children affected by HIV. While at university my role as Target Officer involved working with sixth-form students who visited Cambridge as part of the annual 'shadowing scheme'.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a CRB certificate relating to my work with sixth-form students as part of the Cambridge University shadowing scheme.
