Before any lesson starts I would discuss the topic and activity for that lesson and ask the pupil why they think we need to learn about this, ie why is it necessary, useful and how does it help us in daily life etc. I would follow a 7 stage plan for my lessons covering:- a) lesson objectives b) ensuring understanding of the concept being studied c) example of the concept d) an activity e) support towards any confusing areas whilst the activity is being completed f) consolidation of the original objectives. After I would review the lesson and reflect on it which would be my final stage.
I am a qualified teacher and have worked both in and out of school within a teaching/tutoring/support worker capacity for the past 30 years. My passion is helping primary age children with their creative writing skills, phonics and handwriting skills and also supporting young adults who may have challenges when preparing for the next stages after school such as college, university or work.

Curriculum Vitae for Jane Trowbridge
DFES Number: 8841472
I completed a BA (Hons) in Social Science at Manchester Poly in 1984-7, followed by a PGCE at Goldsmiths College in 1989, specialising in Sociology, with English and SEN. I then taught in Harrow/Brent Schools (NW London) in SEN and English, working with both mainstream and SEN children aged 4-18 with a wide and varying range of needs in addition to children with EFL, both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. I then worked outside the school setting for the Tuition Service with children who had been excluded from school, or were unable to be taught in school for other reasons, such as illness, school phobia or pregnancy. I left teaching in school 18 years ago to have a family. During this time I have continued to work in teaching, privately tutoring English to both SEN and mainstream children. I returned recently to a full-time contracted role with ASD children in the primary sector, and am now working on a supply basis in schools. I have recently begun a post at a primary school in Acton contracted for the first term with a year 6 class and now in my second term at the same school with a year 1 class.
