I am mainly able to teach the three core sciences and maths. My teaching style is one-to-one. I have taught many students in the past 3 years, both in school and outside of school. The subjects included the three core sciences, maths and history. These students in the space of a year went from C grades to A/A*grades in their end of year exams.
I have passed my International Baccalaureate Diploma at King Edward's School Birmingham, so I am very confident in teaching GCSE science, especially Chemistry and Biology. I have A* grades in these subjects (May 2016) and I am confident in teaching the new GCSE syllabus. Having just finished secondary education recently, I feel that my experience is valuable and beneficial to students who are going through the system currently, as it is still fresh in my memory. My direction of teaching will be appropriate for the needs that are required.
I am a 19-year-old medical student with excellent experience in teamwork and communication.
Scouts and Explorers Programmes (2006 – 2014)
I was part of the 304th Scouts programme since 2006 and I finished in the Explorers section. Through monthly meetings, we organised worthwhile activities and learning for both ourselves and also for the younger scout sections. I was able to practice my communication skills by being a leader for this group.
Fundraising for Birmingham Children’s Hospital (2016 - 2017)
Being a key organiser in fundraising for a family liaison unit, in the Birmingham Children's Hospital, gave me a large role of responsibility. Visiting the hospital for many weeks taught me how the hospital runs effectively, but also the certain areas that could be improved. Our campaign at times did not go according to plan, however resolving the problems, through constantly reflecting on our work, would eventually lead to a better outcome.
Tutoring and Mentoring (2016 – 2018)
Every week during Sixth Form, I mentored a younger pupil in Biology, which allowed me to understand the importance of patience when helping others. I privately tutored a Year 11 pupil in GCSE History and Biology so that I spent my time appropriately in my gap year by helping others in my community, as well as gaining more experience in teaching.
