Understanding, as any teacher would say, is the most crucial aspect of learning and my method of ensuring this is achieved is making sure students are able to explain what they have learned back to me, in the most simple terms possible- fundamentally the Feynman Learning technique.
My methods include discussion, active conversation and repeated examples. I believe my success in teaching comes down to the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed my GCSE and A-Levels, and working hard to allow other students have the same experience- a love of their subjects and learning- is what drives me to ensure students have the best, most efficient and most enjoyable learning experience possible.
Additionally, I base my lessons on not only helping my students understand and learn the content for their required subject but also teaching them HOW to approach learning by showing them the methods that have led me to success previously and that they can utilise in the future. This involves making their own concise, organised notes from class notes, understanding the importance of past papers and making use of them, how to approach understanding basic concepts and developing a strong foundation, and building a strong work ethic.
I have taught over 10 students and have thoroughly enjoyed the process, and believe that my help has allowed students to reach their full potential!
I am currently a second year medical student at University College London, pursuing an intercalated BSc in Mathematics and Computing in 2021/2022. I achieved 10 A*s at GCSE and 4A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths, along with an A* in EPQ and have performed at the top of my cohort in medicine at UCL.
During Year 12, I volunteered to tutor at a primary school In Yorkshire for a year where I helped children with learning disabilities learn basic maths skills. I continued my tutoring with A-level and GCSE biology, maths, further maths and chemistry at my school during Year 13- this is where I discovered how much I enjoy teaching subjects I'm passionate about, which led me to set up a maths club for Year 7 students, doing fun maths beyond the curriculum. I particularly enjoy helping students be able to experience the same level of joy and passion I feel for the sciences and maths. I continued my teaching during university by being employed by DebateMate- a charity providing debate coaching to primary and secondary school children, for which I worked over 30 hours.

Super helpful tutor! Always willing to thoroughly explain complicated concepts in maths and make sure I have a good understanding. Has pushed my grades this year from getting C’s to and A and is helping to get me to the grades required to pursue my university degree. She has massively increased my confidence in A level maths! Could not recommend enough!
