I have a widespread knowledge of many historical topics and am willing to widen my knowledge. As I recently sat university, A Level and GCSE History exams, I have a strong knowledge of how to structure an exam and what to include. Therefore, I am able to help the student, whether it be at A Level, GCSE or below, in both the learning of historical knowledge and how to structure an exam, including both source and own knowledge questions.
I am a first year History student at the University of Edinburgh. Whilst I have not given official tuition before, I tutored a number of my classmates at GCSE and A Level and was able to help them and myself improve their grades. I am enthusiastic, outgoing and have a passion for History and wish to assist those struggling to understand.

o Worked with the Project Finance team preparing the legal documents required for re-financing of an oil refinery
o Shadowed a number of Associates. Whilst doing this I had the opportunity to sit in on conference calls, attend internal meetings and learnt about some of the deals that they were working on
o Re-organised filing system to be more efficient and time saving
o During my time at HSBC I was also able to speak to people in the other departments such as Compliance which provided me with a basic understanding of this area.
SKILLS LEARNT FROM MY ACADEMIC STUDIES AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
o The ability to analyse large amounts of information and extract the key arguments and information
o The ability to present a structured argument, supported by relevant facts or evidence
o The ability to present information in a coherent and persuasive form
o Development of interpersonal skills such as good communication, time management, teamwork, the ability to cope under pressure and taking the initiative to solve problems.
Outside of my studies I enjoy reading, exercising and socialising with my family and friends. I am also particularly interested in African American Civil Rights in the USA, and have read a number of books on the topic such as Adam Fairclough's 'Better Day Coming', which clearly conveys a full century of race relations in America and has expanded my knowledge and view on the topic. I have a true passion for History and study it at University, and am an active member of the History Society, in which I enjoy participating in debates, which further my ability to present a structured argument.
In April of 2016, I went to Lourdes with some of my fellow classmates in order to help children with various disabilities. This was truly a heart warming and eye-opening experience, in which I learnt to appreciate all of the wonderful opportunities I have in life and how important it is to help those in need. Whilst in Lourdes, I had to overcome a number of obstacles and this definitely made me a stronger person, as I became more patient, understanding and responsible, all skills that have massively helped me since I returned from Lourdes.
