I am very confident that my experience and skills will be extremely valuable to students looking to pass their exams with flying colours, be it GCSEs, A levels, or even exams at university. However, I do not simply wish for my students to be excellent at taking tests. Beyond that, I aspire for them to learn how to trust themselves so that they can be happy people outside of the classrooms too. To enable this, I organise my classes so as to give plenty of space to the students' own inputs. For example, I like to begin lessons by letting the student explain to me what they have learned that week in class, which allows me to quickly spot what has not been mastered, and also helps solidify the course's content in the student's mind. The rest of the lesson depends very much on who my tutee is. Indeed, I work hard to adapt the format of the lesson to their preferred way of studying so that my sessions can be enjoyable as well as useful. However, we generally spend time solving issues they have faced in the previous lesson before preparing for the next one so that they can go to the next class feeling prepared and one step ahead.
Hi! I'm Stéphane. I’m a London School of Economics graduate with a high 2.1 in history and IR, with courses in literature, Spanish and management. Before university, I studied in a French selective international schooI, specialising in economics, english literature and history. Growing up in France before moving to England I’ve had to adapt to a variety of teaching styles and expectations. Thus the key to my academic success has been versatility, persistence and optimism, all integral to helping tutees with their studies. I will provide all the specialist subject knowledge that is required for tutees' exams, but beyond this I will share study skills and techniques applicable to all academic pursuits, whether they be simple - effective organisation - or harder - revision strategies and note-taking. Further, I strongly believe that confidence and happiness engenders success, academic or otherwise. I will work hard to provide an atmosphere that fosters these mindsets in my tutees.
