About Jovy
Hey, y'all! I am a graduate of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM), PolyU Hong Kong. As a trilingual (who speaks Cantonese, English, and Mandarin Chinese), I have a deep understanding of the three languages and can communicate fluently. Before moving to Toronto, I have been tutoring for over 4 years in Hong Kong, providing lessons to children (from ages 6-18). Teaching settings involved primary school, secondary school, and tutorial centers. I am currently working on my postgraduate diploma at George Brown College, majoring in Early Childhood Education (with a GPA of 4.0 in the previous semester). Have you ever wondered how speaking a second language makes you see the world differently? As the old saying goes, "Every language is a door opening up a new world" In my lesson, you will learn about the essence of Chinese (Cantonese) and dive into the cultural scene of Hong Kong.
-No generic lessons, classes can be tailor-made to suit the needs of various students (e.g. age groups, learning objectives, proficiency levels & areas of interest)
*Side note: I also offer ESL (English as a second or foreign language) lessons!
-No prior knowledge is needed! All ages are welcome!

Perfect! Jovy is a fantastic teacher and the best language teacher I’ve ever had. She is kind and patient, and you can tell that she has a genuine care for her students. Her lessons are clear, easy to follow, and also fun. I’m impressed by the dedication Jovy shows to her classes; she is always well-prepared and takes time to check in with how your progress is coming. Anyone can take language lessons in a class, but having 1-on-1 lessons with a native speaker who also has a wealth of teaching experience is without question the best way you can learn a new language.
