I taught A Level Maths and Further Maths at Paston Sixth Form College in Norfolk for over 20 years. I'm calm and good-humoured at all times, and I aim to strike up a rapport with you and every student; I also hope to challenge you when that is what is needed. I love maths, and I hope that I can help you love it too.
I was a Gatsby Teacher Fellow for 2005-6. I am the creator of the Risps, Making Statistics Vital and Carom maths websites. I was a maths scholar at Cambridge University (MA and Cert. Ed). I have an MSc in Mathematical Research from University of East Anglia, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education from the Open University.
Since leaving Paston I've been working for Underground Maths, MEI/Integral, and Hodder. I was the originator and author of the Ritangle A Level Maths Competition 2016.
I am on the General Council of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics. My educational philosophy is in line with ATM's views, that maths should never be used to intimidate, and that people learn best by exploring problems for themselves with the help of an encouraging teacher.
