I am an engaging, rigorous, and empathetic tutor whose approach to teaching is based on understanding the specific needs of individual students. I believe that success at all levels of education comes from stimulating genuine intellectual excitement and as well as instilling confidence through careful planning, organisation, and consistent study practices. My enthusiasm for learning and education is matched by his conviction that the right attitude and conditions can allow anybody achieve excellent results at all levels of study.
I have experience teaching in a variety of educational contexts, ranging from remedial work for special needs student and one-to-one tutorials in GCSE and A level English and Music, to classroom seminars in European literature and philosophy at undergraduate and Master’s level in University College London, where I completed his PhD in Comparative Literature.
Growing up in Ireland, Niall achieved A grades in English, Irish (Gaelic), Music, French, Chemistry, and Geography and received a scholarship to study at University College Cork. Here he was awarded a First Class Bachelors Degree in Music and English before moving to the UK and attaining a First Class Master’s Degree in Comparative Literature at University College London.
I am currently a visiting Research Fellow at King’s College London, where I specialise in English literature, literary criticism and theory, and the history and philosophy of evolutionary biology. I am also a founding editor of Tropos, a Postgraduate journal for cultural studies.
