I approach each task and topic as a method of discovery and understanding. We learn together whilst I impart my knowledge on the subject and we look at other ideas, developing your understanding and ideas with conversation.
For uni work: I offer tutorials on studio, architectural history, presentation, sustainability - I graduated MArch in 2016 so I can pretty much help you with any module as it was not so long ago that I was doing it myself! I sometimes act as visiting critic at my old university, so I can give insider crit and presentation advise.
For software: You will need a licensed copy for us to work through it, and I'll teach you all the shortcuts I know! These are:
Illustrator (though I'm probably still learning this too!)
For secondary school: If you would like to get a taster for architecture or design, maybe you're still in school and trying to put your work together for a portfolio or choosing your A-levels - I can help you with honest advice about what to expect, good knowledge of the different universities our there, help putting yourpersonal statement together, interview tutorials (I had Cambridge interviews for BA and MArch). This also stands if you are putting applications together for your Masters, or if you're looking for a Part I job - I review CVs as part of my role in practice.
I am an excellent communicator and love to get the best out of learning so will give you 100%.
I am currently working full-time as an Architect in an award-winning London practice. I have experience in residential, cultural, office, education and heritage sectors. I have worked at three practices, all award-winning, all in London.
I have both a Bachelors and Masters in Architecture (1st Class) from the University of Liverpool and also studied at the Bauhaus. My interests and reading expand past architecture into the arts and humanities and I am more than happy to tutor and discover with you!
Our first lesson/meeting will be free - so we can grab coffee and run through what you want from lessons and set up a plan of action. I will bring a taster of my work with me so you can see what I get up to! I have no set ideas of how this must work, so we can tailor everything to suit your needs.
Travel costs - £5 flat rate unless distance travelling greatly exceeds this amount.
It is requested that should you need to cancel a lesson, 24hrs notice is required. Notification any closer to the lesson time will incur a 20% fee - so for a £25 lesson this would be £5.
There is a late lesson charge @ 20% every 30mins past the agreed time slot.
