I pride myself on being a very motivating instructor, whilst giving very direct and clear instructions. I like to keep a good mix of fun and hard work in all my sessions. My sessions can be geared for anyone and everyone from beginner level and above. Just as an example I have coached students all the way to black belt and in some cases international competitors, so whatever level I am happy to help you out.
A lesson would normally start with a warm up and stretch, then depending on the needs of the student we may cover some Kihon (basic movements), Kata (forms), Kumite (sparring drills) or a mixture. Again it completely depends on what the student wants and needs to progress.
One of my main teaching methods is always come back to basics and repeat. Karate heavily relies on muscle memory, so you need to repeat, repeat and repeat some more to progress.
I am a Shotokan Karate 5th Dan with 20+ years experience in the art, 15+ years of teaching experience.
I have now retired from competition karate but was fortunate enough to compete and medal in various parts of the UK and across the globe.
I am fully insured, first aid qualified and hold a full DBS and NVQ teaching qualification.
The highlight of my career was a personal invitation to Japan in 2017 from one of the worlds leading exponents shihan Masoe Kagawa (9th Dan).
£40 per hour for a 1-1 training session. Up to 3 students can participate in this session and divide the cost.
